About Major General Hank Canterbury
A decorated USAF pilot, General Canterbury was in the first class to graduate from the USAF academy in 1959. He was also the first Air Force Academy graduate to fly with the Air Force Thunderbirds, flying two years as Number 4, the Slot pilot. He went on to graduate from the AF Fighter Weapons School and fly 376 combat missions in two combat tours of Vietnam. During his AF career, he logged 5000 hours in F-100s, F105s, F-4s, F-16s, F-15s, and A-10s.
He has held multiple command positions in fighter units from squadron level to Numbered Air Level. Notably, he was wing commander at MacDill and Luke Air Force bases, ultimately serving as Vice Commander of the USAF 9th Air Force, Tactical Air Command. Since retiring from the USAF in 1989, Hank has logged another 15,000 hours as a civilian pilot primarily as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFII) training others on the Beechcraft airframes and coaching world class aerobatic competitors. Still actively flying today, he owns two aircraft and participates in regional aerobatic competitions himself.
